You have reached a pivotal point in your spiritual journey, marked by significant growth in your faith. You are now seeking God's guidance more frequently, even in minor matters, and you yearn for His all-encompassing direction in every aspect of your life. This is not only where you need and want to be but also where God desires you to be. This is the stage where you “trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” (Proverbs 3:5)
Having arrived at this place in your faith-journey, the question arises: what should you do next? The answer is straightforward. Embrace wholeheartedly the goodness of God.
Fear Not for I Am With Thee
Isaiah 41:10 provides a profound assurance that God is ever-present with us. We will divide the scripture into two parts to get a clear understanding of its meaning. The first part of the scripture states: “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God…” Let’s examine this closely. Does this imply that once our faith is strong, we will no longer face adversity? Certainly not. Rather, it means that when unforeseen challenges arise, God assures us that He is our God and will manage these difficulties on our behalf. We need not be anxious. We can rest in our faith and “fear thou not.”
Upon professing our belief in Jesus Christ and placing our trust in Him, we are granted the privilege to ‘ask anything of God in Jesus’ name, and God will grant it to us according to His purpose for our good and His glory’ as stated in (Romans 8:28). God will address our concerns. We are relieved from the burden of worry. “Fear thou not.”
Life’s Surprises Do Not Surprise God
Life often presents us with unexpected events. However, nothing is unforeseen by God. Even as I compose this message today, He was already aware that I would be doing so. Although I may not be an eloquent speaker and often feel nervous when addressing an audience, I am able to convey His Word more effectively through my writings. Many individuals prefer reading, and I believe that I was intentionally created with this ability by the Creator Himself to appeal to that group of people. He knew each of us before "He formed us in the womb" (Jeremiah 1:5) and "knows the plans He has for each of us” personally (Jeremiah 29:11) and all of us collectively, “plans to give you hope and a future.” The aspirations we have for our present and future are realized through our faith in God. "Faith is the substance of things Hoped for." (Hebrew 11:1) When we approach Him in faith, 'He promises to give us what we are believing Him for' (Hebrew 11:6).
Windfall of Blessings
In the second half of Isaiah 41:10, it is stated, “I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.” This verse not only instructs us not to fear but also explains the reason behind this instruction. When we choose to place our complete trust in God, He assures us of an abundance of blessings. These blessings are unique and can only be bestowed by God. Our role is simply to rely on Him.
Blessing #1: He promises to strengthen us. Often, the challenges we face deplete us emotionally, physically, and spiritually. When we become spiritually weak, we may turn away from God. Our Creator does not desire this; rather, He wishes for us to always draw closer to Him.
Blessing #2: He will help us because, as previously mentioned, there are certain tasks that we cannot accomplish on our own. Some things are impossible for humans, but "with God, ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE” (Matthew 19:26).
Blessing #3: He will uphold us because He understands that we will encounter “diverse temptations” (James 1:2) and may not always find joy in them. We may fall into traps set by the Devil. However, if we rely on our Creator and His strength, He will guide us away from such pitfalls. If we do not lean on Him and attempt to handle these situations ourselves, we may compromise our faith. By standing firm, we will witness the salvation of the Lord as He resolves matters for us. It is important to remember that God provides a way out of every temptation when we earnestly seek Him in times of trouble.
The Faith Key
In our journey of faith, Isaiah 41:10 invites us to embrace a life free from fear and filled with trust in God's unending support and infinitive guidance. As we navigate the unpredictable paths of life, let us remember that God’s strength, help, and righteousness are always available to us. Faith is the key to these benefits. By leaning on Him, we unlock the windfall of blessings that sustain us through trials and temptations. May we continually draw closer to our Creator, finding solace in His promises and hope in His divine plans for our lives. Let our hearts be steadfast in faith, knowing that with God, we are never alone.
