A Walk with God

Amazing Faith
Faith is an extraordinary concept. It has an unlimited array of amazing power. Imagine being so pleasing to God that you do not have to experience the process of death to be with the Lord; a thought we cannot fathom in this era. Death is a part of life. There is one man however of whom the bible tells us never saw death. There is not much said about him in our versions of the bible aside from the fact that he walked with God for three hundred years before God took him. A testament to his name which means dedicated. His name is Enoch. He was indeed dedicated to God.
An Untold Story
The story of Enoch is short and to the point in Genesis 5: 21-24. 21“And Enoch lived sixty and five years, and begat Methuselah: 22-“And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters; 23- “And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years: 24-“And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.” When I envision these scriptures in my mind I see a man whose heart was so captivated with God that his every thought rested in Him. He didn't worry about what he would eat. "I am the Lord thy God... Open thy mouth wide and I will fill it." (Psalm 81:10) He didn’t worry about his safety or the safety of his family. (Psalm 121:7) “The Lord will guard you from all harm; He will watch over your life." He didn’t worry about his enemies overtaking him. (Proverbs 16:7) “When a man’s ways please the Lord, He maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.” He didn’t worry period because he continually abided in God’s presence. Walking daily with God. When you are fixed in God’s presence, you are in the very essence of love and protection.
Nothing else is said about Enoch except for Hebrews 11:5 – “By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.
Too Personal To Tell
We are not told how Enoch pleased God. Clearly that was a personal relationship between the two of them. And perhaps this is why it was not shared with us. We each must seek to please God in our own intimate relationship with Him. When we open our hearts to Him, the Holy Spirit will direct us in the direction that best pleases God in our own personal relationship with Him. All we need to do is hear and obey.
Two Set Apart
There are only two people mentioned in the bible by name that has experienced this wonderful privilege of omitting death. Elijah also shared this miraculous blessing. Again, I glanced at the meaning of his name which means My God is Yahweh. It is said to signify that God is his strength and his God. It defines the very nature of his uncontested faith in the Almighty God. As a result of his faith and favor in God's sight, he was giving the gift of never seeing death. 2 Kings 2:11 “And it came to pass… that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.” It is difficult to imagine with all that we must endure on this earth to live a life so in-tune with God and obedient to his will that one can completely bypass the passage of death and go directly into the presence of God. “But with God, all things are possible,” even defying death. These two faithful men of the bible are very real proof of this.
